Description

 SENIOR SAFETY SPECIALIST

The Senior Safety Specialist will assist and support Senior Manager Quality & Safety and Manager Flight Safety in implementing the Safety Management System (SMS) within the Technical Department, covering both fixed‑wing and helicopter operations.

Main Duties:

  • Ensure strict adherence to all governing Safety Rules and Regulations across technical and helicopter operations.
  • Ensure compliance with QCAA legal requirements, company legal frameworks, processes, and procedural standards.
  • Ensure all safety‑related documentation is accurate, complete, up to date, and properly maintained.
  • Conduct and support investigations of technical incidents, maintenance occurrences, and helicopter‑specific events.
  • Identify root causes and contributing factors; propose and follow up on Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
  • Document all investigation outcomes thoroughly and coordinate reports with relevant departments.
  • Design and deliver SMS‑related training programs for technical and operational personnel, including helicopter modules.
  • Develop, maintain, and update safety training materials, guidance documents, and e‑learning content.
  • Support safety promotion activities, awareness campaigns, and continuous safety improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in hazard identification and conduct safety risk assessments (including fixed‑wing and helicopter operational risks).
  • Maintain and update the Risk Register; track risk controls and monitor their ongoing effectiveness.
  • Contribute to the development, monitoring, and continuous improvement of Safety Performance Indicators (SPIs).
  • Process, analyse, and follow up on the submitted Technical Occurrence Reports (TOR).
  • Coordinate with internal teams to address safety concerns, ensuring timely and effective mitigation.
  • Support technical audits, inspections, and safety reviews across aircraft and helicopter operations.
  • Attend internal/external safety meetings, including industry working groups and regulatory authority engagements.
  • Support additional safety initiatives, projects, and tasks as may assigned by the Senior Manager Quality & Safety or Manager Flight Safety.
     

Qualification

Qualifications, Experience and Skills:

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Aviation Safety, or related discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant aviation safety experience, with exposure to technical operations. Experience in technical investigation and safety data analysis.
  • Experience in SMS or safety-related training.
  • Strong knowledge of ICAO Annex 19, SMS principles, and risk management practices. 
  • Preferred with experience in a Non-Commercial Complex (NCC) operator environment.
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) or e-learning development tools.
  • Helicopter safety or maintenance exposure preferred.
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken). 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under demanding operational environments.
