About the role:

Qatar Airways are pleased to announce an incredibly exciting opportunity to join our team as a Safety Manager who is responsible for maintaining an effective compliance/ISO program within QDF. This position will ensure that QDF has implemented an internal audit program that is fully aligned with QR Group standards. The Safety Manager will liaise with the external auditors/partners to ensure that QDF achieves and maintains accreditation under an ISO integrated management system under quality (ISO 9001), Occupational Health & Safety (ISO 45001) and Environment Safety (ISO 14001). Safety Manager will implement processes and procedures to ensure compliance with both external and internal requirements, including legal compliance, airline client expectations, and CAA directives. Liaises and work with Qatar Airways Group Safety & Security to ensure that policies and directives are followed. Provide Management with advice and guidance on matters relating to QHSE.

Operations:

  • Implement and management of an integrated management system under Quality (ISO 9001), Occupational Health & Safety (ISO 45001) and Environment Safety (ISO 14001).

  • Oversee the QHSE inspections/ audits throughout QDFC to ensure alignment with internal policies and procedures as well as external standards.

  • Develop monthly reports in relation to QHSE trends and analysis and where appropriate present the findings to the relevant departments.

  • Implement the QR QHSE standards with the operations, along with any Regulatory or Aviation QHSE requirements that may arise.

  • Respond to safety and health related emergency situations as deemed necessary to provide technical supervision and guidance.

  • Assist senior management within QDFC in delivering QHSE improvements using available data and trends.

  • Liaise with and assist any government bodies including Qatar Civil Defence, Ministry of Labor and any regulatory bodies where necessary, acting in the best interest of QDFC and Qatar Airways.

  • Oversee the continual development and promotion of QHSE through the review and development of policies and procedures.

  • Identify any QHSE requirements within hospitality and retail and implementing these standards as required including the monitoring and reviewing of existing processes.

  • Supervise employees and contractors in completing QHSE related training to aid in raising awareness and the promotion of a safe culture across all QDF locations.

  • Support all business partners, both internal and external for all QHSE related matters for all retail and hospitality locations.

  • Provide guidance during investigation of incidents and accidents related to QDFC and assist in the preparation and conduct of any legal proceedings.

  • Take lead in health and safety promotions across QDFC for events and activities to promote a positive safety culture.

  • Perform other department duties related to his / her position as directed by the Head of the Department

Qualification

About you:

  • High School Qualification / Vocational Qualification /Diploma or Equivalent (Type of Diploma Based on Role) with Minimum 7 years of job-related experience OR Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent with Minimum 6 years of job-related experience.

Essential:

  • Minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent with NEBOSH Diplomas in HS&E or Equivalent/NEBOSH IGCs in HS&E.

  • Prior experience in implementing IMS.

  • Prior experience in conducting or leading in a related ISO audit (9001, 14001 or 45001).

  • Command of English language.

  • Excellent decision making, problem solving and collaboration skills.

  • Exceptional understanding of Safety and health principles and a clear understanding of ISO 45001, ISO9001 and ISO 14011.

  • Ability to work well under pressure.

  • Excellent IT/PC literate particularly in Excel, word & PowerPoint.

  • Shift work and irregular hours as per operational requirement may be required.

  • Knowledge of airport operations and safety regulations and procedures.

  • Good knowledge of retail operations, policies, and procedures.

  • Good knowledge of warehouse operation, policies, and procedures.

  • Managerial skills - Ability to delegate work, set clear direction and manage workflow. Strong mentoring and coaching skills. Ability to train and develop subordinate's skills. Ability to foster teamwork among teams’ members.

Preferred

  • IMS Internal Auditor in Quality, Health & Safety and/or Environmental.

  • Level 3 training on Food Safety.

  • Experience or knowledge of working in the Gulf region.

  • Investigation skills.
