Qatar Airways are pleased to announce an incredibly exciting opportunity to join our team as a QHSE Officer who is responsible for monitoring quality, health, safety (both occupational and food) and environment, assess risk, and identify actions to reduce potential hazards, perform workplace investigations and respond to incident reports within hub lounges. He/she should ensure compliance with local and international QHSE standards working closely with QR Group Safety and Security department. This position provides QHSE guidance to hub lounges and supports the operation to maintain and continually improve the organization’s safety culture and performance.
Operational
Develop, implement and improve QHSE management systems, processes and procedures by continuously ensuring efficiency to support lounge operations in accordance with QR Group Safety and Security Department. Monitor compliance by ensuring standards are in line with local and international regulations (i.e. ISO 22000, ISO 9001, ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 etc.).
Ensure that standard operating procedures are in place and monitoring that these standards are consistently followed and maintained within Qatar Airways HIA Lounges as per QHSE international standards.
Communicates information on the QHSE Management System throughout the department and promotes QHSE awareness through various communication channels in consultation with all relevant departments.
Ensure and consult best way of food processing, preserving, packaging, storing and delivering/serving.
Carry out food samples, staff and microbiological environmental tests to ensure the safety of food and food preparation environment and provide consultation when required.
Ensure that department and company standards are met by scheduling and conducting regular QHSE internal audits in coordination with external certification bodies for certification, surveillance audits and re-certification of implemented international standards i.e. ISO 22000, ISO 9001, ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 etc.
Follows up on the preventive and/or corrective actions identified during the audits/inspections and monitors the timely closing of the actions in coordination with other departments.
Create a supplier/service provider non-conformance report for each incident noticed, with allocation of persons responsible to rectify them, a plan of action on the correction and prevention of the same and follow up to ensure that it is thereafter in line with the standards.
Develop, facilitate and review QHSE risk assessments by conducting inspection, audits, evaluation of reported incidents and corrective action etc. for routine and non-routine activities to ensure continuous improvement of standards.
Record QHSE key performance indicators monthly and issue reports to the lounge management. Suggest and advise changes to ensure continuous improvement of any additional effective KPIs to be added to the system as part of continual improvement.
Develops, implements and encourages behavioral based safety culture in the department through safe job observations and lounge management inspections.
Actively participate in the QHSE incident investigations and prepare reports and take required actions in consultation with management.
Conduct thorough investigations and sensory evaluations in line with standard QHSE related malpractice or food hygiene related complaints are received and providing reports/recommended action in consultation with management.
Act as the hub lounge representative in all organizational internal QHSE meetings, committees to ensure consistency within the company.
Work closely with other departments, stakeholders and service providers to ensure that the standards are met and to verify their compliance.
Conduct food safety, hygiene and OHS related trainings for HIA Lounges staff who can contribute to the level of conformance on a regular basis with assessments to ensure that the intended message is communicated.
Work towards getting industry certifications/re-certifications for the department and the company about QHSE, compile and prepare documents required and ensure necessary process is implemented operationally
Supporting QR Procurement Team in assessing suppliers’ quality and safety performance and specifying requirements for raw materials and food products, OHS supplies to ensure safe high-quality purchases.
Perform other department duties related to his/her position as directed by the Head of the Department.

Qualifications
About you:
High School Qualification / Vocational Qualification /Diploma or Equivalent (Type of Diploma Based on Role) with Minimum 4 years of job-related experience OR Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent with Minimum 3 years of job-related experience
Essential
At least 2 years of job-related experience in airline lounges.
Experience in working with multicultural groups of people.
Experience in handling customer/staff safety, food safety, quality related incidents.
Good command of English language.
Excellent oral and written communication skills for preparing and presenting reports and schedules.
Ability to foster teamwork among team members.
Ability to delegate work, set clear direction and manage workflow.
Strong mentoring and coaching skills.
Ability to train and develop subordinate's skills.
Preferred
NEBOSH IGC
Other related QHSE certificates.
Managerial skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills for facilitating relationships with decision-makers.
Creative problem-solving skills to gather relevant information to solve planning issues.
Ability to work on several projects or issues simultaneously.
Ability to manage projects effectively and meet firm deadlines.
