About the role

The primary responsibility is to lead and drive Continuous Improvement across Heavy Maintenance within the MRO, focusing on efficiency enhancement, cost reduction, profitability, and operational excellence. The role ensures alignment with Part 145 maintenance requirements while embedding Lean methodologies, innovation, and digital solutions to improve productivity, turnaround time, and overall maintenance performance.
In addition, the role requires strong coordination and alignment with key stakeholders both within the Qatar Airways Group (e.g. CAMO, Finance, and Matar) and external partners (OEMs, MRO providers, and service providers) to ensure successful delivery of improvement initiatives and sustainable operational outcomes.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

Strategic
•    Define and lead the Continuous Improvement strategy for Heavy Maintenance, aligned with MRO operational and financial objectives.
•    Identify and prioritize high-impact initiatives to drive TAT reduction, productivity enhancement, and cost optimization.
•    Develop and implement Lean frameworks (Lean Six Sigma, waste elimination, standardization) across maintenance operations.
•    Drive profitability improvement initiatives through optimization of manpower, material usage, processes, and facility utilization.
•    Establish governance for improvement initiatives, including business cases, ROI validation, and benefits tracking.
Operational
•    Lead the analysis of operational, production, and cost data to identify inefficiencies and improvement opportunities. 
•    Monitor and drive performance against KPIs (TAT, MH efficiency, cost per check, output reliability). 
•    Coordinate cross-functional initiatives across Engineering, Planning, Supply Chain, and Operations to improve end-to-end MRO performance. 
•    Optimize hangar flow, docking strategy, and resource allocation to maximize throughput and efficiency. 
•    Drive implementation of process improvement and re-engineering initiatives across Heavy Maintenance inputs. 
•    Guide the development of data analytics tools and dashboards to enhance operational visibility and decision-making. 
•    Identify and implement innovative and technology-driven solutions (automation, digital tools, predictive analytics). 
•    Ensure all improvement initiatives maintain compliance with airworthiness, safety, and regulatory requirements. 
•    Promote continuous improvement culture by embedding structured problem-solving methodologies across teams. 
•    Perform other department duties as directed by the Head of Department.

Management & Leadership
•    Lead and develop a Continuous Improvement team, providing direction, coaching, and performance management. 
•    Establish clear team objectives aligned with MRO strategy and continuously monitor performance. 
•    Build internal capability in Lean, data-driven decision making, and cost management across the organization. 
•    Drive cultural transformation towards continuous improvement and operational excellence within Heavy Maintenance. 
•    Support national talent development, coaching and preparing employees for future leadership roles.

Qualification

About You:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent with Minimum 8 years of job-related experience or

  • High School Qualification / Vocational Qualification /Diploma or Equivalent (Type of Diploma Based on Role) with Minimum 9 years of job-related experience.

  • Computer applications – MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point)

  • Managerial skills - Ability to delegate work, set clear direction and manage workflow. Strong mentoring and coaching skills. Ability to train and develop subordinate's skills. Ability to foster teamwork among team members
