Description

About the role

Qatar Airways are pleased to announce an incredibly exciting opportunity to join our Distribution team as a Manager Distribution Technology & Integration to be based in Doha, Qatar.

As a Manager Distribution Technology & Integration, you will own and operate Qatar Airways' distribution technology infrastructure by ensuring that the full connectivity stack across GDS (EDIFACT), NDC API (Oryx Connect), direct API, and aggregator integrations is stable, performant, and continuously evolved to meet the airline's commercial distribution requirements. You will be accountable for the technical roadmap that governs how Qatar Airways connects to, and is accessible through, every distribution channel - spanning both shopping and servicing capabilities. You will act as the senior technical authority within the distribution function, translating commercial distribution strategy and partner agreements into precise technical requirements, managing delivery in partnership with IT, and ensuring that every channel integration is built, maintained, and decommissioned in line with QR's distribution objectives. You will work in close coordination with the Manager Distribution Partnerships & Enablement to bridge the gap between what is agreed commercially and what is delivered technically.

Specific responsibilities for the role include:

  • Own and maintain the distribution technology roadmap by defining the prioritized pipeline of technical integration projects, connectivity enhancements, and legacy decommissioning initiatives across all distribution channels, and ensuring the roadmap reflects the commercial priorities set by the Senior Manager Distribution and VP.

  • Set the technical standards and integration architecture for Qatar Airways' distribution connectivity; establishing the frameworks, protocols, and quality benchmarks that govern how QR connects to GDS, NDC, direct API, and aggregator platforms across both shopping and servicing flows.

  • Serve as the senior technical authority for all distribution platform decisions — evaluating new connectivity solutions, assessing build-vs-buy options, and providing expert recommendations to the Senior Manager Distribution on the technical implications of distribution strategy choices.

  • Drive the technical evolution of Qatar Airways' NDC capability by working with IT and external NDC partners to expand functional coverage, improve stability, and accelerate the adoption of NDC across the distribution partner ecosystem.

  • Identify opportunities to simplify the connectivity stack by building the business case for rationalisation and managing the transition to modern, lower-cost, higher-capability integration architectures.

  • Oversee the day-to-day performance and stability of all distribution platform integrations by monitoring connectivity health across GDS, NDC, direct API, and aggregator channels, ensuring issues are identified proactively, resolved rapidly, and root-caused to prevent recurrence.

  • Manage the technical delivery of all distribution integration projects from requirements definition and IT engagement through build, testing, go-live, and post-implementation review to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and to the technical standards required for production deployment.

  • Translate commercial distribution requirements from the Manager Distribution Partnerships & Enablement into precise technical specifications to ensure that partner onboarding, NDC enablement, and direct connect implementations are scoped accurately and delivered to the agreed commercial timeline.

  • Ensure full shopping and servicing coverage across all active distribution channels by tracking capability gaps, prioritising their resolution in the technical roadmap, and working with IT to close coverage deficiencies that impact booking quality, servicing efficiency, or distribution cost.

  • Govern distribution platform changes and release management by ensuring all technical changes to the distribution connectivity stack are properly tested, approved, and communicated to relevant internal and external stakeholders before deployment.

  • Maintain accurate technical documentation for all distribution integrations; including connectivity specifications, API documentation, integration maps, and decommissioning plans while ensuring the distribution technology estate is well-understood and auditable at all times.
