Description
As a Health, Safety & Environment Officer, you will be responsible for the day-to-day implementation and monitoring of Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) requirements across Qatar Airways MRO & CAMO operations. The role focuses on frontline safety presence, inspections, hazard reporting and workforce engagement, ensuring compliance with HSE procedures and contributing to the prevention of accidents, incidents, and environmental harm within aircraft maintenance environments.
Specific responsibilities for the role include:
• Conducts HSE inspections and safety checks across MRO & CAMO areas to ensure safe and compliant operations.
• Monitors compliance with HSE procedures and permit-to-work requirements to prevent unsafe practices. Identifies and reports unsafe acts and conditions to reduce incident risk.
• Verifies correct availability and use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to protect personnel. Supports hazard identification and safety reporting by employees and contractors to strengthen risk awareness.
• Assists line manager in implementing risk control measures from risk assessments to mitigate hazards. Monitors high-risk activities to ensure controls are effectively applied.
• Ensures timely reporting of incidents and near misses to support safety management. Escalates serious or imminent risks to HSE management to enable timely action.
• Supports line manager in investigations by collecting initial information and site evidence to enable root cause analysis. Tracks corrective and preventive actions to ensure effective closure.
• Supports compliance with applicable aviation, HSE, and ISO requirements to maintain regulatory readiness. Assists line manager with audits and inspections to demonstrate ongoing compliance. Maintains accurate HSE records and reports to support compliance documentation.
• Monitors waste management practices to ensure environmental compliance.
• Supports safe handling and storage of chemicals and hazardous materials to prevent environmental harm. Reports environmental incidents and supports initial response actions to minimize impact.
• Delivers and/or supports safety briefings and HSE inductions to raise safety awareness. Promotes safety reporting and positive safety behaviors to strengthen safety culture. Supports safety campaigns and awareness initiatives to reinforce HSE engagement.
• Monitors contractors compliance with HSE requirements to ensure safe execution of work. Supports HSE inductions for contractors and visitors to ensure hazard awareness. Escalates serious or repeated contractor non-compliances to HSE management for action.
• Perform other department duties related to his / her position as directed by the Head of the Department.

Qualification
About you
• The successful candidate will have the following skills and qualifications:
• Secondary or tertiary qualification with a minimum of 3 years of job related experience
• NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC) or equivalent HSE qualifications
• ISO 14001 & ISO 45001 Internal Auditors certificates
• Experience in an HSE role, preferably within aviation, MRO, industrial, or heavy engineering environments
• Familiarity with aviation maintenance activities and hazards
• Knowledge and understanding of HSE requirements
• Command of English language both in written and verbal
• Proficiency in computers, i.e., MS-Word, MS-Excel, MS-PowerPoint
• Basic knowledge of occupational safety principles and hazard control
• Ability to work in operational environment, including shifts and outdoor conditions when required
