Qatar Airways is happy to announce an exciting opportunity to join our Cargo Operations Team in Mumbai as the Cargo Operations Manager. The post holder will be responsible for smooth Cargo Operations through close coordination, supervision and negotiation with the GHA’s, Local Service Providers and staff within the stations.


Responsibilities

  1. Manage the Mumbai Operations team, that are carrying out the day to day operations.
    In collaboration with Cargo and Regional Cargo Managers, manage various station’s ground handling activities in the Netherlands, and ensure that they are carried out in a cost effective, efficient and safe manner.
  2. Develop and maintain processes, ensuring standard operational procedures (SOP) are adhered to ensure high and consistent levels of quality in the area (inbound / outbound / trucking / ULD control).
    Ensure streamlined processes are in place with Ground Handling Agencies and other service providers in order to follow procedures in the absence of QR cargo staff at stations.
  3. Manage Key Performance Indicators (KPI) and Service Level Agreements (SLA) with the service providers and/or Ground Handling Agencies in local markets and ensure the operational performance meets QR’s required service levels.
  4. Establish strong contacts with authorities and regulatory bodies. Liaise with local Government/ Customs Authorities to obtain permissions and to comply with regulatory issues related to cargo operations.
  5. Maintain the freighter on time performance and ensure no delays occur due to ground operations.
    Prepare and perform technical evaluation in the area and provide support for other network stations.
  6. Perform and/or facilitate regular station audits including QCAA audits.

Qualifications

  1. Relevant college or university qualification with 4 years of job-related experience in airline cargo operations.
  2. Extensive cargo operations knowledge and air freighter industry experience within an Airline or GHA at a managerial level.
  3. In-depth knowledge IATA Cargo handling, IATA Cargo Services Manual, Dangerous Goods regulations and other pertinent operational regulations.
  4. Demonstrated leadership skills, ability to motivate and engage a globally dispersed team across countries and cultures.
  5. Good communicator, open and embracing, team-oriented personality.
  6. Result-oriented mind-set, problem solving ability and creative, entrepreneurial thinking; ability to comprehend and visualize complex problems quickly; ability to work under pressure for time and result
  7. Analytical skills (numerical and process approach)
  8. Fluency in English (written and spoken)
