About the role:

Qatar Airways has new openings for Lead Finance Officer - Tax Planning and Compliance.  In this role, you will be responsible for developing the Qatar VAT and any other Indirect Tax strategy across the Qatar Airways Group, implement Qatar VAT policies and procedures for accounting, compliance and audit, manage the Indirect Tax risk across the group, remaining up to date on tax legislation and updates, timely payment of tax liabilities and required filing and also other regulatory laws while maintaining confidentiality of Qatar Airways financial information.

Key accountabilities of the role:
• Advice on Qatar VAT as well as ensuring the organization to be up-to-date on changes in Qatar VAT legislation.
• Lead the overall compliance for Qatar VAT across QR Group.
• Correspondence with Qatar Tax authorities for tax payments, tax filings, tax refunds, tax audits etc. 
• Detection and evaluation of risks as well as opportunities regarding tax issues from a Qatar VAT perspective.
• Review of contracts and advising to management for impact to QR and necessary actions thereon. To keep updated on current developments relating to Qatar VAT and other taxation issues with respect to VAT across all jurisdictions of GCC.
• Reviewing business processes involved in the 'supply chain' across all business processes of the clients and having discussions with selected team members involved in the 'supply chain' to identify VAT touch-points (such as deemed supplies or items classified as blocked for VAT Input Tax recovery purposes) arising from any arrangements and their potential VAT impact.
• Ensuring payment of VAT and related taxes thereon is remitted in accordance with the statutory due dates, planning for job in advance and liaising with local station finance management (wherever required). 
• Advising top management on tax planning measures for maximization of benefits to QR.
• Developing methods of ensuring tax optimization for Qatar Airways as per Qatar VAT law and practices adopted in respective tax jurisdiction where QR operates.
• Maintain the confidentiality of company information and ensure minimum disclosure while meeting the legal requirements. 
• Ensure that all documentation relating to Qatar VAT compliance is maintained for reference purposes and maintaining full control of all regulatory compliance obligations.
• Make sure timely compliance to Qatar VAT tax laws and other regulatory laws to avoid any consequences to Qatar Airways.
• Ensure Qatar Airways complies with Qatar VAT regulations.
About you:

You will have a Bachelors Degree or equivalent with preferably a CA, ACCA or CPA qualification.  In addition you will have a minimum 5 years of work experience in both direct and indirect tax and experience working in compliance department handling both direct /indirect tax compliance in a large scale organisation or multinational organisation.  The preferred candidate will have 10 years of experience both in direct and indirect tax from the airline industry. As this role is focusing on Qatar VAT, please note that candidates having Arabic communication skills are strongly preferred.

In addition, you will have the following job specific knowledge, skills and experience:

• Sound understanding of tax principles governing compliance of Direct Taxes and Indirect Tax laws.
• Able to correctly interpret the provisions of tax laws to comply with the provision of laws.
• Well versed with VAT regulations and the potential issues / risk from an Airlines Industry perspective
• Knowledge of DTAA’s (Double Tax Treaty Agreements) and Transfer Pricing regulation shall be added advantage.
• Good communication skills to effectively communicate the message to all stakeholders.
• Candidates possessing the above requisites from airline industry is preferred
