About the role:

Qatar Airways is looking for a Senior Manager Business Finance – Revenue to join our team.  In this role, you will be responsible for the preparation of financial and strategic planning, monitoring variances against budget, evaluating opportunities/risk, and providing value added, insightful reporting and analysis.  Your key stakeholders will be Senior Management up to Chief Officers level of Commercial, Cargo and Executive Jet Divisions. As a leader, you will motivate and develop staff of business finance to be future leaders in Management roles.

Key accountabilities of the role:
  • Accountable to present an objective view of the financial situation and provide sound recommendations for the allocation of resources in the most efficient way to achieve the business goals and objectives
  • Responsible for monitoring monthly route profitability with a view to analyse potential profit improvement steps to be taken by Corporate Planning, Commercial and Operating Departments
  • Analyse fleet assignments periodically and as may be required with a view to recommend optimising the assignment of equipment to routes to enhance profitability on an overall basis (i.e. not just for the route)
  • Analyse potential inward / outward leasing options to meet demands for fleet re-assignments
  • Analysing scenarios under which the Lorg Range Plan (LRP) could potentially change and presenting fleet assignments under each such LRP scenario
  • Coordinating and LRP for the airline and the Group with different stakeholders annually, preparing and presenting the LRP to the Steering Committee
  • Critically analyse new route / frequency business cases presented by Corporate Planning and Commercial and present the output to senior management for processing as may be appropriate
  • Critically analyse proposals submitted by Corporate Planning and Commercial for Code Shares, Joint Business Agreements, Special Prorate Agreements etc.. and present the output to senior management for processing as may be appropriate
  • Lead investigation when variances are significant and taking necessary control action as required
  • Accountable for evaluating opportunities/risks by providing sufficient information to facilitate fair evaluations.
  • Introduce a way of thinking culture that causes people with the authority to recommend projects to first consider their value, risks and relative priority as a fundamental element of submitting the project proposal.
  • Establish new and review existing policies & procedures across all assigned areas to ensure internal controls are maintained to minimize risk to the company.
  • Establish the department or teams objectives and priorities to align with and support business objectives.
  • Regularly evaluate the department or teams objectives, plans, procedures and practices, and makes appropriate changes if needed.
  • Lead, direct and manage the preparation, execution and analysis of the budget.
  • Oversee and supervise employees. Direct daily activities, recruit, train, develop and discipline to ensure a high standard of service delivery.
  • Responsible to lead the units strategic business drivers to determine investment allocation, creating comprehensive and highly structured Business Cases for proposed projects, ascertaining investment cost and benefits to scope, dependencies, risk and its alignment to strategic objectives
  • Lead continuous improvement and consistency, enabling the team to develop in line with the company.




The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Finance / Accounting and will be CA/CPA/ACCA/MBA qualified.

minimum 10 years of job-related experience is required with at least 5 years in an airline management position and 5 years in planning and analysis.

In addition, the following job specific skills are required:

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to review variances, understand business cycle and their impact on the profit and loss account.
  • Managerial skills - Ability to delegate work, set clear direction and manage workflow. Strong mentoring and coaching skills. Ability to train and develop subordinate's skills. Ability to foster teamwork among team members.
  • Excellent communication & presentation skills are a must, as is the ability to work effectively across the organization.
  • Knowledge of cost centre accounting, preparing budgets and forecasts
  • Knowledge of the airline operations
  • Knowledge of IATA / ICH rules, regulations and procedures of passenger and cargo business
