About Your Job:

Due to expediential growth of Qatar Airways, a position is available within our Aeropolitical Affairs Department to support in Aeropolitical and Regulatory Affairs across multiple regions. 

You will proactively and reactively manage all the legislative and regulatory threats and opportunities to protect the interests of Qatar Airways as well as obtaining operating permits and foreign AOCs for the new routs of the airline. 

You will provide support with implementation of these regulations in QR procedures and support Aeropolitical Affairs in developing aeropolitical strategies.


  • Develop a road map/strategy to apply and obtain operating permits and foreign AOCs for the new routes of the airline
  • Develop road map/strategies to obtain governmental approvals for anti-trust immunity.
  • Proactively and reactively analyse upcoming/ current regulations which may affect QR by monitoring foreign legislative procedures Preparation and presentation of briefing materials for negotiations with other airlines and government agencies in the regulatory field.
  • To elaborate on a strategy to fight against upcoming regulatory burdens.
  • To line up with the department objectives and priorities to align with and support business objectives.
  • Evaluate regularly the department objectives, plans, procedures and practices, and make appropriate changes if needed.
  • Oversee and supervise employees if assigned, direct daily activities, recruit, train, develop and discipline to ensure a high standard of service delivery.

About You:

To be successful in this role you must have a minimum of 8 years’ experience working in a similar role, with a Bachelors Degree qualification and more than 3 years’ experience in aero-political and regulatory affairs.

You must have experience in analysis of traffic rights requirements in coordination with Corporate Planning and other departments (Finance, Commercial and Cargo) and have participated in bilateral consultations. You will have knowledge in Bilateral Air Services Agreements and Inter-carrier cooperation for airlines. You will have proven ability to proactively and reactively manage all public policy, government relations and aeropolitical threats and opportunities to protect the interests of an airline, and be able to develop strategies to get the required traffic rights. It is essential that you also have excellent negotiation and lobbying skills.

You must have managerial skills with the ability to delegate work, set clear direction and manage workflow. It is important that you have strong mentoring and coaching skills with the ability to train and develop subordinate's skills. It is essential that you have excellent English language skills in writing and speaking. Being fluent to communicate in a business environment with a second language is desirable.
