About the role:

In this role, you will be responsible for managing all of Finance for Doha Sales including financial risk assessments, financial delivery of budgets, timely collections, fraud prevention, providing advice, leading the budget preparation and monitoring variance against the budget.

You will create business cases, providing a framework for planning and management of the business changes and you will implement financial policies and procedures.  You will support the strategic planning, decision making, costing, project management, financial planning and analysis.

Key accountabilities of the role:
  • Accountable to present an objective view of the financial situation and provide sound recommendations for the allocation of resources in the most efficient way to achieve the business goals and objectives.
  • Lead the diverse financial functions for the business unit within area of responsibility including but not limited to, financial control/budgeting and consolidation, personnel processes, audit/compliance, premises and coordination of certain projects, service quality, process improvement, business continuity and communication.
  • Lead, direct and manage the preparation, execution and analysis of the annual Doha Sales finance unit expenditure budget - achieves budget objectives by scheduling expenditures, analysing variances and initiating corrective actions.
  • Responsible for monitoring fund revenues/expenditures variance on an on-going basis and ensuring that actual income and expenditure remains in line with planned income and expenditure. Lead investigation when variances are significant taking necessary control action as required.
  • Responsible to lead the units strategic business drivers to determine investment allocation, creating comprehensive and highly structured Business Cases, for proposed projects, ascertaining investment cost and benefits to scope, dependencies, risk and its alignment to strategic objectives.
  • Resolve Audit exceptions and put proactive controls.
  • Perform periodical internal checks/Spot checks on the laid down processes at various QR sales offices in Doha and ensure that delegation of authority, financial policies and IAPs/SOPs are adhered by all staffs.
  • Cost control per unit.
  • Review and initiate Contracts and Agreements related Doha Sales Finance areas.
  • Ensure the accuracy and completeness of Sales Invoicing and timely collection of outstanding debts as per applicable due dates. Any exceptions to be daily reported to the HQ Finance Management.
  • Control over cash in transit/safe and daily cash deposit from all sales offices and daily exception, if any, reporting to HQ Executive Finance Management.
  • Deliver monthly closing as per HQ Target dates.
  • Manage and Monitor the Accounts Receivable aging report for Doha Based Customers and Qatar Airways Subsidiaries. Handles Inter-Company Transactions between Qatar Airways and Subsidiaries.
  • Perform other department duties related to his/her position as directed by the Head of the Department. 
About you:

The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's degree with a professional accounting certificate like CA/CPA/ACCA/CIMA/ICWA or MBA Finance. 

In addition, a minimum of  7 years relevant experience in the Airline industry, Aviation, Travel agencies is required with good exposure in a similar position supporting a station or region.

The following job specific skills are also required:

  • User level experience in Oracle Financials or similar ERP.
  • Arabic Language (Speaking and Reading).
  • Strong aviation specific profile in either expenditure or revenue accounting. Must have excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, Ms Access and PowerPoint and have proficiency with Oracle Financials.
  • Good Knowledge of BSP / CASS and Self-Handling work environments.
  • Good Knowledge of IATA Resolutions. Thorough knowledge of ICH rules, regulations and procedures of passenger and cargo business
  • Must have the ability to analyse and interpret data. Strong analytical skills with the ability to review variances, understand business cycles and their impact on the profit and loss account
  • Must have excellent organizational ability to be able to set priorities, handle multiple responsibilities / work interruptions
  • Must be self-starter and have the ability to work independently, with minimal instructions.
  • Must have good interpersonal skills.
  • Must have the ability to maintain strict confidentiality of records and information.
  • Experience working to tight internal reporting timescales.
  • Good knowledge of internal finance systems.
  • Knowledge of cost centre accounting, preparing budgets and forecasts.
  • Command of English language.
  • Managerial skills - Ability to delegate work, set clear direction and manage workflow. Strong mentoring and coaching skills. Ability to train and develop subordinate's skills. Ability to foster teamwork among team members.
  • Knowledge of Airline Accounts Receivables and Revenue Accounting Systems is advantageous
