Qatar Duty Free (QDF) is an award winning subsidiary of Qatar Airways, the national airline of the state of Qatar and currently operates at the Departure, Arrivals, VIP and Premium Terminal of Hamad International Airport. As one of the fastest growing Duty Free operations in the world, Qatar Duty Free operates from the new Hamad International Airport (HIA). HIA is also home to the newly created QDF Food & Beverage Division which will set new benchmarks in airport hospitality.

About Your Job:

This is an exciting opportunity as Senior Manager Purchasing to develop, implement and review all procurement strategies, policies and procedures to provide the best value procurement environment. You will lead, manage and deliver procurement in order to meet Qatar Duty Free Company’s operational objectives. The purpose of this role is to put in place robust procurement and contract management arrangements to help Qatar Duty Free comply with legal requirements, build key partner relationships, maintaining internal policies and to help achieve value for money for the goods and services it purchases.

Your accountabilities include but not be limited to the following:

  

  • Commodity and negotiation strategies including Terms and Conditions Supplier selection/ de-selection,  evaluation and rationalization of Supply chain solutions, including vendor managed inventory (VMI), supplier consignment, safety stock levels, etc.

  • Maintain promotional vision to meet delivery fulfilment expectation and deliver profitability for the division.

  • Create and maintain mutually beneficial long-term partnerships with suppliers to foster feedback and continuous improvement.

  • Be responsible for, and manage effectively, capital and revenue expenditure within the budgets set in order to deliver both cashable and non-cashable savings against agreed targets.

  • Managing and mentoring a dynamic team of purchasing professionals. Develop cross-functional teams to understand company-wide needs and evaluate suppliers.

  • Establishing and maintaining measurable performance metrics for all levels of procurement activities to include but not limited to supplier performance deliveries, supplier quality, internal order placement performance, buyer activity levels, financial (AP) performance, and material shortage elimination.

  • Investigate, and re-engineer where appropriate, all processes and systems within procurement and logistics to deliver the procurement strategy and action plan.

  • Report to management the measurable status of progress and corrective actions as it pertains to supplier performance.

  • Putting in place systems, controls and procedures for effective procurement and contract management.

  • Ensure performance improvement and recovery plans are developed, issued, tracked and reported on as required for supply base management and improvement.

  • Negotiate and execute purchase orders or vendor contracts as needed to support the critical business needs.

  • Manage material flow to insure inventory is maintained to the optimum level to support on time customer deliveries while keeping inventory holdings at the appropriate levels.

  • Strategically develop and implement commodity/supply chain strategies covering all commodities, services and supplier processes throughout a global enterprise to deliver maximum value, leverage, and standardization.

  • Leads product development commodity strategies in line with corporate initiatives to improve supply chain efficiencies and reduce the total cost of supply chain management.

  • Drives usage of cost models to validate commodity strategies and to understand significant cost drivers.

  • Develops an overall vendor base which creates and sustains a competitive advantage, utilizing global market exploitation, leveraging spend, and leveraging of technologies.

  • Provides commodity support to New Program Teams as required meeting target costs and establishing program cost models.

  • Manages materials savings initiatives in line with profit plan and overall business objectives.

About You:

To be successful in this role, you must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Purchasing, Production/Operations Management, or Engineering or equivalent. 

Masters in Business / Purchasing qualification will be an advantage.   

You will have minimum 10-12 years of progressive experience in Purchasing & Sourcing with extensive experience in the manufacturing industry, preferably in a strategic setting in a large size organization with at least 3-5 years recent experience as a Senior Manager in a reputed organization.

Inventory Management experience in a rapidly growing multi-cultural environment, including replenishment, pricing and analysis (or equivalent) is highly preferred.
