About Your Job:

The responsibility of Cargo Operations Supervisor is to overlook and ensure that Qatar Airways (QR) standards and procedures are implemented in order to achieve all goals. In this role you will plan, supervise and support the staff in order to provide quality customer service and surpass revenue targets.  You will ensure full compliance at all times with all safety & security regulations and procedures as per host state and company requirements. You will update head office on the current local government regulations relevant to the respective station to ensure smooth cargo operations.

 Key Accountabilities :

 Strategic

  • To generate maximum cargo sales in order to meet or exceed the set revenue/tonnage target for stations.
  • Coordinate with Ground Handling Agents (GHAs)  on a regular basis to ensue QR standards and procedures are adhered to.
  • Ensure all safety measures are taken by operational staff as well as GHA.
  • Ensure all staff adhere to optimal use of capacity to maximize revenue whenever possible with on time performance for freighters.
  • Support sales to keep systems updated with operational information.
  • Prepare cargo reports and system accounting updates on every flight departure.

 Operational

  • Ensure that the GHA and other vendors always adhere to the QR Cargo Safety and Security procedures on all occasions without compromise.
  • Carry out local audits on flights been prepared by the GHA to ensure they remain compliant and that processes are been adhered to ( in particular weighing processes and special commodity procedures)
  • Maintain the OTP ( on time performance ) and ensure no delays occur due to poor performance by our nominated vendors.
  • Liaising with local GHAs and with head office cargo departments to ensure a high quality customer service is provided in sales and operational areas.
  • Liaise with local Government/Customs Authorities for obtaining permission to comply with regulatory issues related to cargo operations.
  • Supervise and monitor the agreed SLA and ensure that the KPI’s are been met on a daily basis ( addressing any irregularities or failures with the GHA )
  • Ensure discrepancies and non-conformance are minimized in order to reduce claims and penalties at the station/s to increase customer satisfaction and reduce carrier liability.  
  • Ensure that trucking arrangements ( RFS ) for both import and export are adhered to and monitored throughout the UK.
  • Maintain a good professional working relationship with all internal stakeholders and outside vendors on all occasions.
  • Ensure that the GHA has the appropriate and adequate stock of consumables to build export cargo safely and securely on all occasions.
  • Support import customers for clearance of their cargo, liaise with customs authorities to facilitate smooth and timely import clearance, Liaise with HO Doha and/or origin stations for necessary support.
  • Flight planning with maximum utilization of the flight capacity, control and operational export & import. You will maintain close coordination between QR space control and customers by ensuring their shipments are transferred and delivered on time.
  • Coordinating with customers and cargo claim supervisors at head office and handling of discrepancies and all administrative issues related to the station.
  • You will ensure that notifications are sent officially on cargo arrival information to freight forwarders, agents, direct customers, to ensure cargo does not stay under airline custody for long periods, avoid damages and for space availability at the warehouse.
  • You will supervise the London Heathrow operations however will also be required to ad hoc travel and help support and audit the Edinburgh, Manchester and Birmingham stations, when required by the management. 
About You:

To join our team in this role, you will need to hold a Bachelor Degree or equivalent. You will have a minimum of 5 year-experience in the Cargo / Air Freight Industry of which 3 years in air cargo operations and ground operations in areas such as ramp handling, weight and balance and load control experience of all types of aircrafts and loading of cargo freighters.

Your MS Office Skills must be at an advanced level and you must have excellent leadership, communication, presentation and planning skills. You must have an excellent command of written and spoken English  and currently be legally eligible to live and work in the United Kingdom. You should have knowledge of IATA/TACT regulations, basic cargo handling,C2K, DGR,live animal regulation and Pharma.
